I Just Have To Say One Thing About Occupy Wall...
Look, there clearly are some problems with our current economic/sociopolitical system. There are things that need to change. There are people who are being screwed out of their livelihoods, who can’t feed their children, who are losing jobs at no fault of their own with no safety net and mouths to feed.
But for the people whining on my dashboard about how they’re 23 and saddled with...

So There's This Movie Out
Called “Un Hereux Evenement,” which, judging by the trailer/posters, is about a couple having a child.
That seems to be the plot.
And, like the sheep that I am, I semi-teared up watching the trailer and am just like, “Oh, my god, I want to see this so badly…look at how good this looks…this looks soooo good.”
And artistically, yeah, it looks funny and...

Anonymous asked: This blog is my absolute favourite. I'm trying to learn French (but it's difficult and can be discouraging...but I'm using the fact that you basically taught yourself as motivation for me) and I want to be a writer. My teacher suggested that I read books that are in French, as impossible as it may seem, to help myself with my French - any suggestions?

Feeling Like A Loser In the "Cool Crowd"
So, I just got off a rather masochistic session on Twitter where I found out that some people I know through Thought Catalog are friends with some of the most ridiculous people I went to high school with. And by ridiculous, let me specify here:
Extremely wealthy (through their parents, clearly, none of these people have jobs)
Very fashion-obsessed
Prone to Regina George-esque behavior

silencehastens asked: Hey. You occasionally reference having family in DC. Do you have any connection to TC outside of professionally? Like do you know the Lavergnes - they seem politically connected and I think your dad is in media or something.

Kat Stoeffel, prepare yourself for a major freak out from Choire Sicha.
Wednesday’s low point
So, awesome article. Also, I remember when YM blogged my first TC article. Tee hee. Also, to the haters, I would like to quote my life metor, Lil Kim,
“I just keep climbing up the ladder, y’all I never stop my swagger All this petty...

The other was Johann, although having seen his driver’s license once, Tenley could confirm that his actual name was Mike. He worked at an ultra-hipster bar downtown that had a beer list that resembled Infinite Jest in length and pretension. His extremely expensive degree in creative writing from a microscopic liberal arts school had made him about as employable as a felon, so he had to find some...

Build Me Up Buttercup
So, I get a lot of questions asking me about my personal/romantic/sexual life. A lot of things along the lines of, “What’s your boyfriend like? What’s dating like in Paris? Why don’t you write about your sex life?”
To answer those questions as concisely as possible:
1. Awesome.
2. Wouldn’t know, really.
3. Because it’s weird.
Seriously, though, I know...

Dear Miss Fagan, I’m a Canadian, fluent in French, thinking of moving to Nice. These plans have been in my head for a long time and I feel totally ready to do it, but through conversations with some [white] friends, I’ve procured that my being of Indian background might be problematic. I…

…And I want you to know that from the moment I met you, from the moment I saw what another human was capable of being—even around someone like me—I suddenly felt better about the world. I thought it a shame that we can’t all be like this, all the time, to everyone. And I remember things in short bursts, in vignettes that pass in front of the backs of my closed eyes and...

you lie awake at night and think of all the things they said and hope that if you write them down that you might go to bed for writing means they cannot swim and stir inside your head at least they’ll have to follow where your weakened pen has led for there’s a million, maybe more, things you have to say but you can’t spit them out before they sigh and turn away you’ll...

Life Is Awesome, And You Should Never Forget That
So last night, I was at my boyfriend’s apartment making dinner with his roommate while he was being a busy beaver and working on a work project over the weekend. I was talking to his roommate about something, and all of a sudden I realize there’s this tinny noise coming from my boyfriend’s room, so the roommate and I go in and investigate. It’s Britney Spears’...

Problems, As They Present Themselves
My (one-room) apartment currently smells of broken dreams
I cannot find the culprit
Febreeze, in such circumstances, does not in fact eliminate odor—it simply engages them in a Thunderdome-style battle in your nostrils
Considering migrating to boyfriend’s house, but “I can no longer bear the fetid squalor of my own filth” is not a sexy reason for an unannounced...
