So This Is What It's Come To
I am so, so incredibly desperate for some Popeye’s chicken (spicy breast and wing with some mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and coleslaw) that I am actually going insane.
The other night, I had a dream that, for the entire span of my REM sleep (however long that was) was simply me sitting in a chair, eating Popeye’s. There was absolutely no context, no storyline, no action...

Here's What I Don't Get, Feminists.
Perhaps it is just because I live in a country where the DSK issue is more than just an excuse for tabloids to run “Le Pervert” headlines and funny pictures. Perhaps it is because I live in a country for which he was very likely to become president, toppling a current regime who has done an immense amount of divisive harm to this country. Perhaps it is because most of the people I know...

Body Hair and Tedious Blog Rants
You read a lot of stuff on female body image these days, some well-founded, others…not so much. And the thing I’ve been kind of on the fence about lately, as I can see it from both sides, is the whole shaving thing. And I mean everything. A small sub-set of women are choosing not to shave their legs, underarms, or pubic region—and are making a political statement out of it.
And...

What I Have Learned From Tumblr
16-year-olds love taking up political causes they don’t fully understand.
Neville Longbottom got sexy and, man, was that unexpected.
Great literary works are only relevant insofar as you can find quotes that relate to your douchebag ex-boyfriend.
14-year-old Asian girls speak better English than I do and can make the shit out of some GIFs.

No, I Don’t Find Your Hillbilly Jokes Funny:... →
“Appalachians are not only fighting the coal conglomerates and out-of-state landholders in their struggle to end strip mining, but are also struggling against cultural assumptions that mark them as expendable. If we are choosing to fight injustice and exploitation, whether generally or in their specific manifestations through the destruction of the globe’s most ancient mountain range, we must...

India.Arie's "Video" Should Be Required Listening,...
I follow a lot of people on Tumblr who like to post pictures of “street style,” magazine photo shoots, and backstage/runway outtakes. In short, beautiful, tall, thin, perfectly styled women wearing incredibly expensive outfits. Even the street style ones seem suspiciously model-esque.
And I, like most people, enjoy ogling the pretties. It’s fun and aesthetically pleasing. But...

My Incredibly Interesting Vacation
So I left Paris, again. And, true to form, the “to” flight was canceled (after being delayed three times) because of a pilots’ strike, and upon arriving back in Paris we were stuck in a terminal for thirty minutes because of a bomb alert. I have literally never taken a trip somewhere in France without transportation problems. But, you know, free health care.
Anyway, I went with...
